When you want to observe a distant subject and know how far away it is, the Leica Geovid R 10x42 keeps both jobs in one optic. The 10x magnification gives useful reach for wildlife, landscape, and general outdoor observation, while the 42mm objective lenses, HDC multilayer coatings, and modified Uppendahl prism system form the core of Leica's optical setup.

The integrated laser rangefinder measures from 10m to approximately 1,800m and can return a reading in a maximum of 0.3 seconds. Single measurement mode suits a fixed subject, while scan mode makes it easier to check distances repeatedly. When terrain rises or falls, the built-in inclination sensor can also provide Equivalent Horizontal Range, giving you the angle-corrected horizontal distance rather than leaving you to interpret the slope yourself.

The four-position eyecups, central focusing control, and diopter adjustment help tailor the viewing setup to the user, including spectacle wearers. For changing outdoor conditions, the aluminium body is nitrogen-filled and waterproof to a depth of 5m. Power comes from a single CR2 lithium battery, with Leica rating battery life at approximately 2,000 measurements at 20C.
