MIDSOLE

100% Polyurethane (PU)

Polyurethane (PU) is a soft plastic that has excellent shock-absorbing properties and is therefore mainly used for midsoles. Through the percentage of PU, the soles become lighter and more flexible in their function.

INNER SOLE

Approx. 50% Viscoelastic latex foam

Viscoelastic latex foam features a special polymer that gives it a particular shape memory. As soon as it senses body heat or pressure, the viscoelastic foam adapts perfectly to the contours, allowing for balanced weight distribution and less load on the foot.

Approx. 10% Mesh

Mesh fabric is made up of many small meshes, usually made of polyester or nylon, and from a technical point of view it forms a grid that is created by threads connected to each other. Thanks to the special manufacturing technique, this synthetic fibre fabric is particularly breathable, absorbs moisture, requires no special care, is fresh and creases little.

Polyester is a man-made plastic fiber that is made from petroleum. From a chemical point of view, it is a polymer that can be processed to obtain many other different materials. Thanks to its chemical flexibility, polyester is lightweight, dries quickly, does not shrink, and has high resistance to tears and chafing.

DESCRIPTION: The Granite Plus GTX is an ankle lace up boot with a Nubuck leather upper with leather collar and minimal stitching and a Gore-Tex Insulated Comfort 100% waterproof membrane. The Alpina Tundra boot is a versatile, mid-length shoe that is well suited for hiking and outdoors activities. The inner surface has a nice, pleated textile lining. The tongue of the shoe and the opening are coated with a soft mesh material of about 3.5 cm in length, making the shoe feel always dry and comfortable against the leg even when the going gets rough.

The outer surface of the shoe is 2mm thick nubuck leather, which is durable and long-lasting. At the top of the shoe there is a soft polished leather upper part which increases the flexibility of the shoe while walking. The sole of the boot is made the same way as the Alpina Trapper, upper and lower parts of the boot have been cast together instead of traditional gluing. This method increases the life of the rubber sole compared to the adhesive based attachment between sole and lower boot.

Tundra is really flexible in the longitudinal direction, while still having the necessary rotational stiffness. Alpina uses their own Alpitex -membrane with these boots, which means they are waterproof and highly breathable. Also the rubber sole has been made from Alpina's own rubber combound meaning it wont slip and or harden in sub zero temperatures.
